Reglazing in Concourse.

The Art Deco buildings along the Grand Concourse carry bathrooms with real history — original cast-iron tubs, thick pre-war tile, details worth keeping. We reglaze instead of replacing: chips repaired, surfaces sprayed to a factory gloss, character intact. One sealed, ventilated visit and the room is back in service by morning.

HOW IT WORKS IN Concourse

Booked today, glossy by the weekend.

01
Free quote
Photos of the tub or tile get you an exact same-day price — and if a managing agent needs paperwork first, we send it before booking. That is the standard rhythm for Concourse bookings.
02
Prep & polish
Decades of refills and hard water take real prep: sanding, chip fill, rust treatment, polish. We do that part properly — it is what the finish stands on.
03
Reglaze
The enamel goes on sprayed, coat over coat, until the surface is uniformly glossy — bright white or a shade that respects the original palette.
04
Cure & enjoy
Cure time is 10–12 hours. Evening spray, morning shower — the building never hears a hammer.

ASKED IN CONCOURSE

Concourse bathrooms — common questions.

Is it worth keeping a pre-war tub instead of replacing it?
Usually, yes — emphatically. Tubs from these buildings are heavier, deeper and better shaped than most modern stock, and replacement means demolition, plumbing work and a tub that fits worse. Reglazing keeps the original and costs a fraction of the swap. It is the pattern we see across Concourse again and again.
Will the building require anything before you start?
Some Concourse managing agents want a certificate of insurance — we send one as a matter of course. Beyond that there is nothing to approve: no wet trades, no shutoffs, no debris. The equipment arrives on one cart and leaves the same day.
Can we stay in the apartment during the work?
Yes. The bathroom is sealed with plastic and tape, air is pulled out the window the whole time, and the noticeable smell is gone within hours of the last coat. Overnight with the door closed, a morning airing, and the apartment is itself again.
Decades of wear — will the new surface really last?
That is what the prep is for. Old damage is repaired down to sound material before any enamel is sprayed, so the coating bonds to solid metal or tile, not to history. Expect 10–15 years with gentle cleaning — and spot repairs, not redos, if life happens to it.
Does refinishing work on the old tile too, or only tubs?
Both — and in these buildings the pair is the point. The tile stays on the wall and is sprayed after the same prep; grout lines seal under the finish. Tub plus tile in one visit reads like a restored bathroom, not a patched one, and it is done the next morning.
